こんにちは。こちらはインターンのゆうです。今週でインターンシップも5週目となりました。時が経つのは早いもので、いよいよ最終週を迎えることになりました。3月19日は特に早起きをして、大阪にあるEBAホールディングスのグループ会社である株式会社メドックスと神戸にある株式会社デルタバイオメディカルを訪れました。朝8時、柘植さんと名古屋駅で集合し、新幹線に乗って新大阪駅に到着しました。新幹線に初めて乗りましたが、とても速く、わずか1時間程度で到着しました。その後、私は関西エリアの交通について詳しくありませんでしたが、柘植さんの案内で株式会社メドックスに到着しました。
Hello. This is Yu, the intern. This week marks the fifth week of my internship. Time has flown by, and we’ve reached the final week at last. On March 19th, I woke up especially early to visit the group company of EBA Holdings, Medox Co., Ltd., located in Osaka, and Delta Biomedical Co., Ltd., located in Kobe. At 8 a.m., I met with Mr. Tsuge at Nagoya Station, and we took the Shinkansen to Shin-Osaka Station. It was my first time riding the Shinkansen, and it was incredibly fast, taking just about an hour to arrive. Despite not being familiar with the transportation in the Kansai area, we arrived Medox Co., Ltd. with the guidance of Mr. Tsuge.
株式会社メドックスに到着後、常務取締役の水野さんと執行役員の濁川さんが私たちを歓迎してくださいました。互いに自己紹介し、名刺を交換しました。その後、会議室で台湾と株式会社メドックスに関するいくつかの話題について話し合いました。
Upon arrival at Medox Co., Ltd., we were welcomed by Executive Director Mr. Mizuno and Executive Officer Mr. Nukaga. After introducing ourselves and exchanging business cards, we discussed various topics related to Taiwan and Medox Co., Ltd. in the meeting room.
その後、営業部長の嘉納さんから、株式会社メドックスが取り組んでいる業務について講義を受けました。EBAホールディングスと同様に、酸素ボンベの充填（室内で）や配送業務を行っています。ただし、EBAホールディングスとは異なり、糖尿病患者の治療に用いるインスリンポンプのレンタルも行っています。嘉納さんは説明を続ける前に、糖尿病の症状や種類について詳しく説明し、次の内容を理解しやすくしましてくれました。糖尿病は1型と2型に分かれており、2型の人々は通常、運動不足や不健康な食事から後天的に発症しますが、1型は先天的な要因によりインスリン分泌の異常が原因です。株式会社メドックスが担当するのは先天的な要因による1型糖尿病です。これは先天的なインスリン分泌異常を持つ患者に対して、電子ポンプを用いてインスリンを供給し、比較的新しい方法です。従来、患者は自己判断や機器のテストに頼って、1日に4〜5回の注射を行う必要がありましたが、このような携帯型インスリンポンプを使用すると、1型糖尿病患者も一般の人々と同様にリラックスした生活を送ることができます。外出先でも特に注射場所を探す必要はありません。このような機器は酸素機器と同様に直接注文することはできず、医師の指示が必要です。そのため、国民健康保険制度や診療報酬制度にも適用され、嘉納さんは関連するポイント、費用、および最新の製品についても説明してくださいました。その中で、特に興味を持った製品の1つは、患者の血糖値を測定し、患者が自ら設定する必要がなく、自動的にインスリンを供給する完全自動の機器です。このような製品は人工膵臓とも呼ばれ、糖尿病患者の間で話題になっています。ただし、現時点ではこのような製品は比較的高価ですが、このような製品が早く普及し、1型糖尿病患者の生活をより便利にすることを願っています。
Later, Mr. Kano, the head of the sales department, gave us a lecture on the business operations of Medox Co., Ltd. Similar to EBA Holdings, they also engage in filling oxygen cylinders and transportation services. However, unlike EBA Holdings, they also provide rental services for insulin pumps used in treating diabetic patients. Before continuing the explanation, Mr. Kano provided detailed information about the symptoms and types of diabetes, making it easier for us to understand the following content. Diabetes is divided into Type 1 and Type 2, with Type 2 typically developing due to factors like lack of exercise and unhealthy diet, whereas Type 1 is caused by congenital factors leading to abnormal insulin secretion. Medox Co., Ltd. is responsible for Type 1 diabetes caused by congenital factors. This involves supplying insulin to patients with congenital insulin secretion abnormalities using electronic pumps, which is a relatively new method. Traditionally, patients needed to inject insulin four to five times a day using pen-type injectors, which was cumbersome. However, with portable insulin pumps like these, Type 1 diabetes patients can lead a more relaxed life similar to ordinary people, without the need to search for injection sites when outside. These devices cannot be directly ordered like oxygen equipment and require a doctor’s prescription for distribution. Therefore, they are covered by national health insurance systems and medical reimbursement systems. Mr. Kano also explained related points, costs, and information about the latest products. Among them, I was particularly interested in a product that can automatically measure a patient’s blood glucose level and supply insulin without the need for patient input. Such products are even referred to as artificial pancreases, causing quite a stir among diabetic patients. However, these products are currently relatively expensive, and I hope they will be widely available soon to make the lives of Type 1 diabetes patients more convenient.
その後、濁川さんが私を会社の施設に案内してくださいました。1階の一部は以前に訪れたHOTセンターと非常に似ており、室内の酸素ボンベ充填室や家庭用酸素設備の保管庫があります。他の部分には、様々な医療機器が保管されています。その後、事務室や社員休憩室も見学しました。濁川さんは最近、事務室などがリニューアルされ、より美しくなったことを教えてくださいました。また、使用されていないスペースを筋トレ用の機器を配置し、トレーニングルームとして活用する計画もありました。
Afterward, Mr. Nukaga guided us through the company’s facilities. Part of the first floor resembled the HOT Center we visited before, with an indoor oxygen cylinder filling room and a warehouse for household oxygen equipment. Other areas housed storage rooms for various medical equipment. We also toured the offices and employee break room. Mr. Nukaga informed us that the offices had recently been renovated, becoming more aesthetically pleasing. Additionally, there are plans to utilize unused spaces as training rooms by installing muscle training equipment.
午後になり、私たちは柘植さんと一緒にまず大阪梅田に戻り、その後阪急電車で神戸にある株式会社デルタバイオメディカルに向かいました。そこで取締役の赤松さんとお会いし、株式会社デルタバイオメディカルが取り組んでいる業務について説明を受けました。株式会社デルタバイオメディカルは、衛生検査を行う会社です。新型コロナウイルスの流行中も、新型コロナウイルスの検査を行っていました。衛生検査のプロセスは、まず医師の指示のもと、検体の採取（尿、血液など）が始まり、次に医療機関から衛生検査所に検体が規定の条件（温度、遮光など）の下で送られます。さらに、衛生検査所の検査技師が患者の情報を確認し、検査を行います。検査結果が得られたら、報告書が医療機関に送付されます。このプロセスでは、多くの記録や台帳が必要であり、様々な作業が行われています。彼らの細心さとプロフェッショナリズムを感じました。また、衛生検査技師法に関する基準や分類、そして検体検査の精度と品質をどのように維持しているかについても説明を受けました。その後、赤松さんから食中毒に関する多くの知識も補足してもらいました。この知識は他の所では学びにくいものであり、多くのことを学びました。
In the afternoon, Mr. Tsuge and I returned to Osaka Umeda and took the Hankyu train to Delta Biomedical Co., Ltd. in Kobe. There, we met with Director Mr. Akamatsu, who explained the business operations of Delta Biomedical Co., Ltd. Delta Biomedical Co., Ltd. is a company that conducts sanitary inspections. During the COVID-19 pandemic, they also conduct tests to determine whether individuals have contracted the virus. The process of sanitary inspections typically involves guidance and commencement of specimen collection (urine, blood, etc.) by a doctor, followed by reliance on medical institutions to deliver specimens to sanitary inspection facilities under specified conditions (temperature, light shielding). Subsequently, sanitary inspection technicians at the facility verify the data and conduct inspections. Once the report results are obtained, the report is sent to medical institutions. In addition to this process, they also need to create many records and ledgers, requiring meticulous attention to detail and professionalism. Furthermore, we were briefed on various criteria and classifications related to sanitary inspection technician laws, as well as how they maintain the accuracy and quality of specimen inspections. Mr. Akamatsu also supplemented us with a wealth of knowledge about food poisoning. This information made me realize that it’s difficult to learn such details elsewhere, and I learned a lot.
説明を受けた後は、赤松さんによるラボの見学も行いました。そこで多くの先進的な器具を見ることができ、特に印象的だったのはドラフトチャンバーでした。これは、衛生検査技師が病原体感染を受けないようにするための装置です。簡単に言うと、チャンバー内で負圧環境を作り、空気が外に流れないようにする仕組みです。衛生検査技師は毎日多くの検体に触れるため、このような保護措置が極めて重要です。
In addition to the lectures, Mr. Akamatsu also took us on a tour of the laboratory. There, I saw many advanced instruments, with the most impressive being the draft chamber. This is a device designed to prevent sanitary inspection technicians from being exposed to pathogens. Simply put, it creates a negative pressure environment inside the chamber to prevent airflow outward. Because sanitary inspection technicians handle many specimens daily, such protective measures are crucial.
あっという間に私のインターンシップの最終日がやってきました。感謝したい人や出来事がたくさんあります。まず、株式会社EBAホールディングスにこの機会を与えていただき、この機会が私にとって非常に貴重であることに感謝します。特に、柘植さんや萩さんの細心かつ熱心なサポートに感謝します。江場社長の助けもあり、今月の交通費（大阪への交通費も含む）を支援していただきました。また、本社や他のグループ会社で出会った全ての方々、名刺を交換した全ての方々にも感謝の意を表します。この5週間、皆さんにお世話になりました。
In the blink of an eye, it’s already my last day of internship. There are so many people and things I want to express gratitude for. First and foremost, I’d like to thank EBA Holdings for giving me this valuable opportunity. I’m especially grateful to Mr. Tsuge and Ms. Hagi for their attentive and enthusiastic assistance. I’m also thankful for President Mr. Eba‘s help, including covering my transportation expenses for this month, including those to Osaka. I appreciate everyone I’ve encountered at the headquarters and other group companies, as well as everyone who exchanged business cards with me. I sincerely thank you all for taking care of me during these five weeks.
